  EQUINE MASSAGE CLINIC

Saturday, May 3, 2008

9:00AM-2:00PM

Sunkist Stables

Tucson Mountain Riders has arranged with Rene Noriego, EBW to provide an equine massage clinic for interested TMR members on Saturday, May 3, 2008.   The clinic will be held in cooperation with Jeanna Hernandez at Sunkist Stables 9811 LaCholla south of Lambert where we will have covered space for the lecture and demonstration of techniques.  The second part of the program will have attendees working in pairs to apply their new knowledge.  You are welcome to bring your own horse to practice on (it would be helpful to arrange for a partner in advance) and there is ample trailer parking.  Outdoor horse pens are available.

Equine body work is fast becoming popular as a preventative and remedial therapy for equines.  Equine body work benefits horses of all sizes, shapes, and ages, regardless of whether they are athletes or companions.  As well as being a tool for remedial treatment of specific injuries, massage therapy is also seen and used as a preventive tool.

Rene Noriego holds a certification from Equinology, Inc. and is a member of the International Equine Body Worker’s Association (IEBWA).   IEBWA membership requires a minimum of 150 hours of equine massage through an approved program, completion of 16 CE hours on an annual basis.  Rene is well known and respected by the Equine Center at the University of Arizona.

The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will run until 2:00 p.m. or later, depending on the number of teams.  Cost is $25.00 per person until April 15th and then $30.00 after that date and includes a detailed manual.   Bring a lunch and a chair; there is a refrigerator for perishable items.

Please register in advance by sending a check to Judy Ferrigno, TMR Membership/Treasurer as space will be limited.   Contact Judy at 245-4214 if you have questions (I attended this workshop previously and thought it was extremely beneficial!)
